The Retired Librarian plans for 2024

This being the start of the first full year that I am really retired, here are my plans so far:
1. A cruise to Curacao, and a couple of other Caribbean islands in March.
2. A cruise in autumn up the eastern coast from Baltimore to Nova Scotia to view fall foliage.
3. Began planning a new flower bed today. Currently sitting on a little knoll, surrounded on one side with trees and bushes, the landscaper placed rocks in a semi circle and mulched. The mulch is history and it's getting weedy. What started out with plans just to add a ground cover is now planned to be a cottage-style pollinator garden. I also downloaded a garden journal to help with the planning.
4. My daughter has asked me to make her some small appliance covers.
5. A new book-themed quilt is in the beginning stages. I recently found Beatrix Potter, The Little Prince, and Arthur fabric to add to the stash of other book-themed fabric.
6. Once again joined the 75 book challenge. So far, I've read one book this week. I've been getting free ebooks from the public library. I need to knock out some of the paper books in my personal library too.
7. Planning to binge-watch the new Percy Jackson series. Here's hoping it's much better than the movies.
8. Work on genealogy--find more documents and photos to flesh out some of my ancestors. My 87 year old mom has a bunch of old photos we need to identify. She is pretty much the last one of her generation left in the family.
9. Figure out how to use the cash-back apps that I've downloaded (my techology goal of the year).
10. Mr. Retired bought season theater tickets in St. Louis (The Fabulous Fox Theater, which is a really great over-the-top art deco styled theater built in 1929). We will see Mrs. Doubtfire this Saturday. St. Louis is an hour away, and we usually go to the matinee, so we always make a day of it.

Health wise, we had some ups and downs in 2023. Mr. Retired had a pacemaker put in in September; I had my yearly bout of allergy-related bronchitis that hung on for over a month, and in the summer I had a stress fracture on my foot, likely brought on from all the walking we did in Rome in the spring (totally worth it!)

Here's hoping for good health and happy reading to everyone in 2024.

Sounds like you are planning a very busy and satisfying year. Hope Mr. Retired has is recovering from his pacemaker surgery. It does get better.

May all your goals be accomplished with ease and joy and as little stress as possible, and may your reading bring relaxation into your busy days.
