2024 Voting for quarterly topics

Un mensaje del administrador de tu grupo The polls are now closed. Many thanks for taking part!

After some discussion in the planning thread, we've ended up with a few possible topics for next year's theme reads ( https://www.librarything.com/topic/355583#n8313768 ). That means it is time to vote. Thanks to all who made suggestions!

Let's see where voting takes us...

The proposed topics are listed in a post each below. The theme titles are indicative: the people who moderate the themes will decide how it makes sense to interpret them, but the Reading Globally tradition is not to stick to a narrow interpretation of any topic.

You can vote "yes" or "no" or "undecided". (But only the first two are useful.) If you change your mind, you can change your vote.

You do not need to vote on all topics, but doing so certainly helps make the decision more of a group choice.

In principle, we will choose the four topics that get the most Yes votes to be quarterly themes. In the event of equal numbers of Yes votes, we will choose the topic(s) with the fewer/fewest No votes.

This year one of the suggestions is an annual topic: I propose to treat this separately, on the basis that we accept the suggestion as long as it gets more ‘Yes’ than ‘No’ votes.

If the vote gives an unclear situation, e.g. a near-tie or topics that have substantial overlap, I will try to interpret things sensibly, or we can discuss further or even have a second round, so please vote honestly, not tactically!

Voting will be open for a week, i.e. until the evening of Friday 22 December (GMT). There will be a message on the Reading Globally Message Board before it closes.

If you have comments or questions, please post them on the planning thread, not here, but feel free to post here to say "I've voted" to keep the thread high up in the list for the next week.
