Jacqueline Carey too cavalier about sexual assault or assault against children?

I've read book one of the Kushiel's Dart series, two books of Agent of Hell series, and Im currently wading through Santa Olivia and I don't know if its just me, or not. But it just seems like she writes about rape and sexual behavior with or against minors in a way that just seems so nonchallant? Am I reading into it or does someone else feel the same way?

I haven't read Carey in many years now, and only her Kushiel series. I do think it may have come up there, but nonchalance seems to be her attitude towards incorporating sex in her work in general. Perhaps that particular element didn't stand out to me at the time. I think she was very clear about permissions and drew appropriate lines when indicating who the villains were; beyond that, with my foggy memory I can no longer say for sure.
