I'll start.

Paris. Hands down. I always perk up when I see Liza Weil's a guest star (in the earlier seasons). What a great mix of dictator and lonely little girl. I love how her friendship with Rory develops.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Gilmore girls themselves, especially Lorelai, but, for me, Paris steals the show.

Luke, no question. I'm a curmudgeon myself, so I love listening to him rant. Without Luke, I wouldn't watch the series.

Mrs Kim gets my vote. I love watching how her character evolves through the series and she mellows and ends up managing the band.

I also loved Luke, for the same reason as bibliophool. Rory was a close second though. I also absolutely loved Doyle, even though he was a fairly minor character.

Hello I'm new to the group! Just saying hi. I'm actually fairly new to Gilmore Girls as well it's not so easy to see in England.
My favourite character is definitely Rory :)

Hi:

I stumbled on this thread, and I love the Gilmore Girls. My favorite character, yes, I know he was bad, but I loved Jess! Don't want to give anything away to those who haven't see all seven seasons but Jess was a great character, and played a pivotal part in Rory's life in Season 6! Plus I love the very last episode of Season 2!

My favourite character would be Lorelai. She really understands Rory and is always there for her. Lorelai is absolutely hilarious! Her personality is very fun, witty and outgoing. Lorelai is the big stand out in the television show for me. She can give long lectures to Rory and be a serious mother, but she can also be a child and comedian. Lorelai is the person who made Rory who she is and just gives the show more life.

Of course, I love them all. It's great to watch these characters interact. So No.1 goes to "the space in between."

A secret love of mine is Dean (and I'm not even a teen girl). Jared Padalecki plays his part just sweet. And as far as the character goes, I like this "all-American boy but not quite" personality. He seems to embody this fictional, perfect boyfriend archetype: An unreal character straight out of a teen girl's day dream. But on the other hand, he isn't that stereotypical and easy to pinpoint. Of all the girls around he picks Rory, this weird kid and kind of an outsider. Then, he gets along perfectly with Lorelai, another weird kid ... I could go on and on, it's best I stop right away!

I also love Luke's rants (so I don't have to do it) and Lane's music passion and Paris' rudeness/helplessness. Oh, almost forgot: Zach!

Well, I can't pick a favourite but here are some more memorable characters that have yet to be mentioned and that would be in the running, for me:
Suki: as a woman of size, I love her presence on the show, her love story with Jackson, how her family life evolves and she becomes a mom);
Logan: he wouldn't come out on top as my favourite, but I do especially love how he calls Rory Ace; I find that very endearing;
Paul Anka: Ok, so again he wouldn't come out on top and what makes him special is how Loralei treats him - but the Paul Anka angle is certainly something that would play into my love of Loralei;
April: she's like a reminder of the young Rory in the last seasons, but is so her own character as well. She is so quirky and smart and comfortable with herself for a girl that age. April is a definite contender for the favourite character spot in my heart.

Even Emily and Richard and Christopher have their moments when they are endearing. All the characters are so rich.

I love this show!

Thanks for mentioning all those characters (I stopped somewhere because I was afraid my list was becoming too long). Sookie, right! Beautiful character: goofy enough to be Lorelai's best friend, yet dignified. Emily and Richard: They make you love them, they make you loathe them. I love to love them, and I especially love to loathe them. They give the whole show its frame: Parents, daughter, kid.

I've just watched a few episodes. Forgot to mention: MICHEL is also one of my favs.

I think we will have to split this list in major/minor characters, otherwise I will keep marring the list.

How could I forget Michel?? He is just so hilarious and I love how he loves the band Destiny's Child so much! He loves to use sarcasm, just like me! Michel can be hot-tempered, soft, sarcastic and weird, but he's the character that makes the television show shine that extra bit.

I absolutely LOVE Michell, Kirk and Tayor. Michell is just hilarious when he wont eat suky's pancakes because of the carbs and when he has to speak french to the french guests hahaha. And what can i say about kirk?? he sells dead ladies rings, does an interperative dance and dresses up as a lady, he is just the best. Taylor D and his icecream store, he looks so weird dress in his icecram owner ooutfit... it is so funny when he fights with Luke!

Each of the five main leads: Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Richard and Luke. Especially the development of the following relationship pairings over the course of the series:

Lorelai and Rory; Lorelai and Emily (especially the battles where Emily was right); Lorelai and Luke. Rory and Richard (especially their "book geek" chats); Rory and Jess; Rory and Paris; Rory and Laine. Emily and Richard (the separation/reconciliation storyline); Emily and Luke; Emily and Richard's Mother. Richard and the insurance business wars with Lorelai's boyfriend of the time whose name I can't remember. Luke and Jess; Luke and Taylor; Luke and April. Mrs Kim and Laine. Jess and his father (storyline should have been explored more fully). Miss Pattie and Men. Sookie and Norman Mailer.

Only character I didn't like: Christopher.

Minor characters that should have been developed more: I can't remember their names; they were the two chatty blonde and brunette school mates of Rory and Paris that Paris was always ragging on.

Just a delightful show!

I'm new to this group and only regret I didn't join sooner. My daughter and I have been watching the series on DVD - it's our bonding time! My favorites are Logan (I have such a crush on him!) and Michel in his quirky annoying way. My daughter's vote is hands down Rory - she even styles her hair like her!

Not my favorite, favorite character, but I just loved Max Medina. I hated most of Lorelai's boyfriends (except for Luke, of course), but Max was awesome.

I found it odd to watch him in that role, because I had just before that seen him in 10th Kingdom where he was a werewolf :) He was brilliant there too.

I kept expecting him to start sniffing her.

Oh it has to be Kirk. When he stunk up the town with lost Easter eggs that subsequently rotted. Acting in a childrens' school play. Selling real estate. His night terrors and naked runs outside. Taking his role as Jesus too seriously. Loving to eat burned food. He just kills me. That actor must have had so much fun.
