Takes place in a dystopian city where there is a rule you can only have one child.
A couple has female twins but doesn't want to kill one of them so they keep both as a secret.
The twins are teenagers and live on alternate days.
One would go out and go through a normal school day and then come home and go to the secret basement where her twin is and tell her every detail about her day and write it in a diary and then the next day the other twin would go do a normal school day and they did this cycle for their whole life.
One day they get found out (I don't remember how) and the government or some people invade their house and the girls escape and run away.
They go on a long journey and meet some people but I don't think I finished the book because I don't remember anything else.
Oh also they had microchips in their wrists and the dad somehow stole one for the twin that didn't get given one the normal way.
And I read this about 4 years ago.
