Charts & Graphs Text Only mode!

Due to popular demand, we have added a "Text Only" mode to the Charts & Graphs pages that will simply display the tabular data that was already showing in the popup directly on the screen. Try it out!

I love the graphs and so was not expecting to use a text-only version but it's so easy to switch! I probably will use it sometimes.

Nice! I'm glad you can accommodate everyone.

I love that if you hover Text Only, it says "Remove Joy"
When in Text Only, hover over and it says "Add Joy"

Love it! thanks so much!

Now, is there a way to make one's choice 'stick' in the
Show {xxx} Entries box? For the stats I use (for example, Cataloguing Sources or Entries Per Month) I always want to see All entries but I have to repeatedly choose All whenever I go to look at it.

And is there a way to reshuffle the order of the modules? Some of the ones I want to see are scrolled way down, and many of the ones up top I have no interest in.

But again, thanks a ton for the text only option...

Thank you! I do like the graphs, but this will be so much easier when I want to check something quickly.

>9 amanda4242: That was my reaction too! I really like the graphs, but when I'm doing sanity checks, this option removes several clicking steps until I arrive to the actual book list, making the whole process much quicker.

This is great, but I'd still want to be able to collapse/hide certain charts while staying in "chart mode" (not text-only). I think the charts are great but there are several that simply don't apply to my collection (or my interests) and it's quite tedious to have to scroll through them to get to the charts that are useful for me. (As an example: under "Cataloging" there are about 3 charts out of 11 that I care about - the rest is just noise to me.)

I LOVE the Remove Joy / Add Joy mouse over, but when you go to the Text Only version, shouldn't the button itself say Graphics or Charts or something? As it is now it still says Text Only instead of the other version. In the Charts & Graphs version it does say Text Only.

Frankly, I find that a bit passive-aggressive. It's basically telling those of us who don't want graphics that "we're the cool kids and you're not". It's rude and snide.

It’s a toggle - not a button. It looks selected when you are in Text Only. It does not when you are not. :)

Toggle, button, whatever, it still seemed strange to me that it said Text Only in both views.

>15 Bookmarque: But that’s how the filters at the top work as well - whatever is active looks selected. So “All Books” always says “All Books” - its color shows if it is the active filter or not.

Hm...I guess, but it seems illogical to me.

Hm. I found it an understandable and somewhat amusing grumble after developers were told of something that had clearly been a great deal of work: "Get rid of it! Take it out!" The creation of the text-only option was itself not a trivial effort, I'm sure.

>15 Bookmarque: seemed strange to me that it said Text Only in both views

Agreed. Maybe a further iteration could soften the mouseover language now that the point has been made, and change the button from the text view to say, "Full Display," or something like that. The recent change has also undermined the "Charts & Graphs" header link label, which was supposed to have been a subject of dispute among the staff, so there's another point of grief.
