I am very happy to see SFFKit will be here next year! I will take April with the theme of "Series".

How about a "Creature Feature" in October -- books with non-human characters? Could be aliens, elves, robots, dragons, vampires, or many more.

20markon
Editado: Oct 27, 2020, 6:32 pm

How about a short story theme in November or December? I can take this one. Reads can be from an anthology, collection by one author, or online magazine.

I would be interested in another SFFKIT

28fuzzi
Nov 4, 2020, 4:20 pm

>27 amy.rosenberg: don't recall a Gothic Fantasy challenge.

How is that different from Historical Fantasy?

29amy.rosenberg
Nov 4, 2020, 5:46 pm

>28 fuzzi: Gothic Fantasy or Dark Fantasy doesn't have to be historical and it has a horror element. The Dark Tower series is one example, or Leah Bardugo's Ninth House.
But, if that doesn't appeal, I'd still like to host December and I can think of a different theme.

30christina_reads
Nov 4, 2020, 6:12 pm

>28 fuzzi: >29 amy.rosenberg: I agree with Amy that they can be different...I read a lot of historical fantasy that's sort of light and fun in tone, whereas gothic fantasy would be dark/spooky.

I love this category. I had non-human narrators as one of my categories this year (I managed books narrated by dogs, a cat, an alien) having a category with non-human characters rather than just non-human narrators would give me so many more books to choose from.

Seeing as I've decided not to participate in the category challenge again this year with a thread of my own I just want to ask if the group still feels okay with me hosting a monthly topic. I'm just not reading enough these days to make the challenge worthwhile for me personally and am not participating in the group much at all. I'd still be able to fulfill my obligations as host but if the group decides you don't want me to then there will be no ill will on my behalf if that's what you decide. There's still a few months to go before my allocated month (August) so there is enough time for a new host to take over and for everyone to adjust their reading plans accordingly.

Vota: Should AHS-Wolfy host the month of August while not being an active member of the group?

Recuento actual: 16, No 0, Sin decidir 1

Planning on getting the November kit up this coming weekend. I think I had volunteered to suggest some short stories, but damned if I can find the list I created last winter when I was thinking of it! However, it should be easy to come up with suggestions, and I'm sure everyone will pitch in their recommendations!

In my time zone it is already the last day of November and we still don't have a December thread that I can see. The volunteer for December proposed the topic, so does anybody want to take it over or shall we fall back on something we have frequently had at this time of year - books we meant to read this year but didn't?

Thanks to everyone being so supportive. I decided to not host again next year as my RL has had too much going on, and I have woefully neglected my duties...
