Fun stuff: Do any of your tags imply others?

I wrote a tiny perl script to explore my tags a bit (I have over 7500 books all of them tagged, I thought that something interesting might be hiding in the data).

The idea is that if all books tagged Fantasy are also tagged Fiction, then Fantasy implies Fiction.

Here's an example of the output:

Windows XP ==> Computers
Windows XP ==> Recycled
Wine ==> Recycled
Wool ==> Needlework
Word ==> Computers
Word ==> Recycled
Works ==> Computers
Works ==> Recycled
X-files ==> Fiction
X-files ==> Thriller

I find it funny, but I don't know if any others have enough tags/books/data to make it worth their while, but now the idea is out in the open :-)..

It also find a typo (Mysteri rather than Mystery) in my Tags.

I have a lot of tags where X==>Y. This is on purpose to make up for not being able to edit subject headings. I wonder if it would find any inadvertent connections?

I find those funny, too. I especially liked that XP implies recycled, though why? That's almost a definition at this point. I guess it's funny because the data uncovered a truism.

That words are recycled is equally truistic, yet I didn't crack a smile at that one.

Humour is weird.

I also find a lot like

Spain ==> Travelguide

which of course are countries I visited, while some other countries show up as

Vietnam ==> History

because I haven't bought a "Your trip goes to: Vietnam" book. Slightly funny (thanks >3 elenchus:)

I think finding oddball almost-implies cases would be almost as interesting. Some could be tagging errors (you accidentally neglected to tag one fantasy novel with "fiction" when that's your usual practice) but some could be more interesting - what made you hang on to that one lonely XP book?

>5 lorax: Yeah, I've had the same thoughts. I found it more difficult to code exactly what I meant by "almost-implies", so I didn't find anything useful. I might revisit that road, though.

I held onto the XP book, because my kids had an old computer running it.. I ditched Windows somewhere near Windows ME.
