Were you surprised how Patty reacted to Gary’s death, or finding out how long ago they had split up?

I think Patty still cared for Gary so I was not surprised at her response to his death.

She's been having a fantasy relationship with him for years. The guy was a loser husband and father of three who never helped out financially. If it were me I wouldn't be sad, I'd be the prime suspect! 😈

>3 Olivermagnus: LOL! She loved him enough to marry him...he 's the father of her children...so she may have still had fantasy feelings for him. She might have even hoped they would get back together. She may just feel that another part of her life is gone....her mother, her father...and now her lousy husband.

I must have missed something because until that point I didn’t realise they had been separated for as long as five years, I thought it was much more recent.

I agree, I think she liked the fantasy of getting back with him and had been in a relationship with him for a long time.

Not surprised at her reaction, Patty is by her own admission a needy person and held dreams of getting back with Gary.
I hadn't given much thought to how long they may have been separated.

>6 Andrew-theQM: - I don't think they were separated as long as I thought. I know they split up after Archie's birth and I thought he was in school. I went back to check and she dropped him off at "school" but it was more likely nursery school so maybe it was only two or three years.
