Hi Bryan, good to see you!

A slow start with big books for me, but there are plenty to be getting into - Oathbringer, Great North Road, The Unholy Consult, the Old Testament, Kristin Lavransdatter, complete Edgar Allen Poe, rereads of Ulyssess and His Dark Materials, and plenty more.
Also the prospective The Winds of Winter which we hope will be published later this year, cross everything !

>5 bryanoz: There is a year long group read for Kristin Lavransdatter in the 2018 category challenge thread. We are also tackling Ulysses later on in May.

Just started The Penguin Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, just 1026 pages.
9MissWatson
Wow, that's quite a brick!
10bryanoz
Yes it is MissWatson, I'm reading 40 or so pages a day to finish it this month. Am enjoying many of the stories, there is the well known 'The Pit and the Pendulum' and 'The Fall of the House of Usher' but my favourites so far (360 pages in) is the satirical 'The Literary Life of Thingum Bob, Esq.' and 'How to Write a Blackwood Article'.
11MissWatson
The titles sound promising. But I don't think my edition has those. Off to check.
13bryanoz
Hope you found those stories MissWatson, I have finished the collection and didn't find too much else to be excited about !?
14MissWatson
Hi Bryan, they're not in my edition, but those are selected stories. I found them on Gutenberg, bless them, but I haven't found time for reading them yet.
15bryanoz
Just started Fall of Light, next in Steven Erikson's Kharkanas trilogy, 837 epic pages.
16bryanoz
Beginning Kristin Lavransdatter, by Sigrid Undset, a reasonable 1126 pages.
17bryanoz
Beginning Oathbringer, 3rd and newest volume of Sanderson's Stormlight Archive, 1243 pages .
I have left this for the school holidays so I can relax and enjoy the story at 150 pages or so a day.

Began two big books Great North Road 1087 pages, and The Canterbury Tales at 735 pages, but slow going. Not getting as much reading time as I would like, the lovely Christine's idea of holidays being the time to be busy on lots of jobs is the opposite of mine !??
23bryanoz
Soon to begin European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss, at 708 pages. The sequel to The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter and one of my favourite reads of last year.
24bryanoz
18 big books read so far, reading Elric of Melnibone at 690 pages now, 19 for the year and happy with that !
25MissWatson
You've done great!
26bryanoz
