Creativity overlooked?

An English professor once told me that he explored analytic philosophy but could not find anything helpful regarding literary analysis. He then turned to Kant and Hegel for guidance and material to appraise Romantic poets such as Coleridge. Does analytic philosophy ignore the creative avenues of artists for the sake of scientific rigor? Perhaps this was in part the reason for its waning influence in the mid twentieth century.

Perhaps your professor would have enjoyed Wittgenstein and Nelson Goodman.
