What did you think of Lud-in-the-Mist by Hope Mirlees? Was it magical - or ridiculous?

Well... I picked this up a few months back in order to be ready for the book club due date, but honestly I didn't get very far into it. Sorry.

I've heard a lot of positive things said about this book over the years but, honestly, it didn't hook me and other books pulled me away.

Can anyone convince me to give it another try?

This isn't really a book where I'd say keep going if you weren't hooked at the beginning - I enjoyed it when I read it, but the tone doesn't really change.

I read it on a long plane trip, and found it just nice for that - not too much thinking involved and pleasant.
