OHEL!

I've just acquired the Oxford History of English Lexicography (OHEL) in the OUP Summer Sale (75% off!! But the sale's now over. O HELL!).

It has a couple of good chapters on the OED, describing the original project and also the process of revising it and getting it up online. There's also loads on slang, dialect, learners', bi-lingual dictionaries, etc.

Pshaw, Jonathan, the OUP emails me sales details (and a reminder), but I completely overlooked this one. I don't suppose it's a huge seller, so perhaps it'll come round again. Bah.

Did you buy it direct from the OUP or from FS?

I got it direct from OUP. Their online summer sale regularly has 25%, 50% and even 75% reductions on a wide range of selected items in all subjects. On expensive academic books this can be useful to say the least. Not that there aren't Worlds Classics paperbacks on offer too. I'm not sure whether you have to have a previous online purchase history to qualify - but they always send me a special link in an e-mail when it's on.

Yes there are quite a range to choose from. Hopefully I may get the opportunity of a deal akin to that of boldface's.

OHEL at 75% discount is definitely a bargain. I'm glad you've been able to take advantage of it.

After the huge spike in demand occasioned by this thread a year ago, OHEL is only 50% off in this year's OUP winter sale.
