Did anyone pick up this book and read it? It is not too late! I read this recently, I was not going to reread it; however, I would love to see what others thought of the book. I thought it was a terrific read. Unlike a lot of people, I really did like the Esther parts.

I was wondering what had happened to everyone!
Yes, I did read it, and thoroughly enjoyed the soap opera! I was visualising people waiting on tenterhooks for the next issue of the magazine so they could find out what happened next.

What did you think of the ending regarding the lawsuit?

I am sorry. I thought everyone had abandoned this group so I did likewise. I can't join you now for Bleak House but it is just exactly the type and quality of book that I would like to see this group doing.
Good to 'see' you --BJ and nice to meet you sarahemmm.
hugs,
belva
P.S. to whomever has kept the group going, I thank you. I have always felt that this group is well worth saving.

Good to see you, Belva!
I thought that Bleak House had really great characters in it.

I already knew that the lawsuit ended that way - people of my parents' generation referred to Jarndyce suits and I must have asked at some point what it meant. Although it is no longer _precisely_ true, it often seems to me that modern cases really are not much different.
On another note: does anyone believe someone with Esther's upbringing could possibly grow up to be so sweet and saintly and loving and giving and all that stuff? Because I'm afraid I don't!
