PROGRAMS:
*Summer Reading Program - One hour programs on a theme are held twice a week during June and July.

*Pre-School Story Time - 45 - minute programs held each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. while school is in session. Children listen to stories, sing, dance and make crafts.

*Adult Reading Club - Monday's at 10:00 a.m. & 5:30 p.m. September - May.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:

*SILO/ILL: Silo and the Iowa Locator contain a list of all of the books that can be loaned in the State of Iowa.

*EBSCOhost and First Search databases.

*Homebound Service-For patrons who aren't able to come to the library. Please call if you need this service - 347-5492.

*Laminator -$0.50 per page

*Fax Machine - $0.50 per page for sending a fax. $0.25 per page for receiving a fax.

*Copy Machine - $0.10 per copy. $0.05 cents per copy senior citizens age 55 plus.

*Public Computers - 5 public Internet access computers. $0.10 per print. Color prints $0.25

*Internet - anyone under 18 must have a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian in order to access the Internet. Ask your librarian for more information.

The Edward F. Owen Memorial Library is a vital community center that educates, informs, enriches, empowers and entertains.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Edward F. Owen Memorial Library exists to provide materials and services to help the residents of Carter Lake meet their personal and educational needs. Particular emphasis is placed on services that support children’s educational needs from the preschool years through elementary school. The library serves as an educational, informational and cultural center for the community of Carter Lake and its residents. The Edward F. Owen Memorial Library believes the future rests in the continued development of our children and that “LEARNING TRULY IS A LIFELONG EXPERIENCE”
