Sobre mí: I am a Seattle-based author and writing teacher. I love literature, poetry, science, and history. My books are Dancing with the Muse in Old Age (Epicenter / Coffeetown), Holy Magic (poems, MoonPath Press); Fire and Stone: Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? (essays from University of Georgia Press); Minding the Muse: A Handbook for Painters, Composers, Writers, and Other Creators (Coffeetown Press); Crossing Over: Poems (University of New Mexico Press), The Writer's Portable Mentor: A Guide to Art, Craft, and the Writing Life. I am also author of Where the Sun Never Shines: A History of America's Bloody Coal Industry, as well as many poems, fictions, and creative nonfictions published in literary journals.
