Former Indianapolis Star reporter - awards from University of Missouri, Associate Press and elsewhere. Author or co-author of six non-fiction books, including "Chuck Taylor, All Star: The True Story of the Man behind the Most Famous Athletic Shoe in History" (Indiana University Press, 2006); "Shooting Star: The Rise and Fall of the British Motorcycle Industry" (ECW Press of Toronto, 2009), and "Media Smackdown: Deconstructing the News and the Future of Journalism" (Peter Lang USA, 2013). Also the author of many short stories published in quality literary magazines such as The Gettysburg Review, Chicago Quarterly Review, The South Carolina Review (forthcoming) and more. My novel, "Letting Go," about a father who loses his soldier son under mysterious circumstances in Afghanistan, will be published by the respected The Permanent Press on May 31, 2018.
