- My user name is the prisoner number of a well known literary hero. I always expected I would have one of my own. A prison number, not a literary hero. As in many other things, I have been disappointed. Hope remains. In the meantime, I borrow. I am a reader but not a scholar. Seem to read by compulsion. Started as and continues as escape and distraction. If it takes me anywhere, it is incidental. Keep thinking I should pay more attention and learn something solid but suspect that would take the fun out of it. Another literary hero, young Alex in A Clockwork Orange, found reading helped him cope with his incarceration. I will cling to reading against the day when I am incarcerated which, surely, cannot be too far off.
