Ginger Zee

I loved this book! I had no idea who Ginger Zee was before this (I don’t watch ABC News), but I’m going to keep an eye on what comes next because she’s really honest with her writing. A lot of my notes and highlights were to do with things I wanted to look up next and learn more about. She covered a whole bunch of things, that we as women experience, but can’t talk about for one reason or another. Maybe I haven’t read enough, but this is one of the few times I’ve read a woman writing about the aftermath of an abortion and talking about what actually happens to you afterwards, regardless of the choice you make.

She’s also proof that therapy, with a professional, genuinely works. There is so much she writes about that should keep her angry and up at night, but she’s forgiven people or understood them.

I have always enjoyed Ginger Zee's appearances on the national news, and so when I saw this book at the library I thought it might be a good choice. It was. Although it is sometimes hard to follow the sequence of events (sometimes they are out of order), and I would have liked a little more insight into the everyday job of a meteorologist (as opposed to the extreme adventures and unusual occurrences), it's otherwise an absorbing, refreshing read. She is very honest about her struggles, but this is no generic tell-all. I really enjoyed this candid, funny, honest memoir.… (más)

I didn't know much about Ginger Zee until I came across this book of hers. I have seen her for some time on World News Tonight with her brief cameo appearances on weather stories.

This was quite an eye opener as she puts it all out there in her natural disaster style and flare. She has led a very eventful and dramatic life up to now. I was surprised by her candor on her personal issues but it added to the realness of the person you see on camera.

One thing she makes clear is that despite her looks she is much more than another pretty face weather person. She is in fact a dedicated meteorologist who takes pride and passion in her work. And that she is the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News says a lot.

I found the writing entertaining with many insights to her work and coverage of events. But it also gave us a perspective on how we all usually have to deal with the curveballs that life can throw at us and still prevail if we commit ourselves to developing our talent and pursue our goals against the setbacks that will always be there.… (más)
