Enjoyable murder mystery read based on an actual homicide in New York City in 1903. Facile use of dialogue and scene setting.

No... I couldn't get onboard having stranger sex on the side of the road after nearly going over a cliff in a car. Call me a spoil-sport if you have to, but this just did not work for me at all.

Can't recommend. *Puts granny glasses back on and waddles away*

Enjoyable read. I was a bit disconcerted at first by the backstory backflips which seemed to interfere with the progression of the plot. But, you get used to them, and they fit stylistically after a while.

Three major characters: Micah Grayson, a new associate at Sullivan & Adler, Raphael Bianco, his mentor, a jaded 7th year associate struggling to become partner, and Gabe Weiss, a partner known as Lord Vader, who has just killed his wife’s lover.

Really a riveting story. I’ll read more from this author. One wonders of the character of Micah has more than a few autobiographical elements for the author. He is an attorney from Kentucky who clerked for a judge and then moved to New York to work for a large law firm. The legal profession gets little respect from lawyers who turn to fiction, not to mention non-fiction. It’s truly depressing.… (más)

This book was a fantastic read. The story focuses on three characters; Micah, a young lawyer just starting out, Raphael, a lawyer mid-road who has done his time and hoping that's enough to make him partner, and Gabe,an established lawyer who has paid the costs of being a partner. I found all of the characters intriguing, but I really liked Raphael with his dark sense of humor and Charlie Sheen-esque lifestyle. The story is full of suspense and the pacing will keep you thinking the entire way, not only about the murder but also about big firm life. The setting takes place in New York City, and I really liked how the author described the city and the inner workings of a major law firm. The dialogue was also witty and real. I really felt like I was there. I really enjoyed this novel, and I would recommend to anyone. Can't wait for the author's next book.… (más)
