The book aims to be an introduction to the "Crisis of the Third Century" and the question whether the 3rd century in fact was all that much more critical than the 2nd or 4th (the author's answer is a qualified yes). A shortish book about half of which is devoted to reproducing relevant ancient texts (in English translation), I felt it was too compressed and superficial to really deliver. It might be a good starting point if you're wondering what this "Crisis of the Third Century" is supposed to be about, but it won't cover the issue in depth.… (más)
