Jerome Yellin was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 15, 1924. He joined the Army Air Corps in February 1942 and became a fighter pilot. He flew the last combat mission of World War II on August 15, 1945. He was discharged from the military in December 1945 as a captain and received the mostrar más Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. In 1975, he embraced Transcendental Meditation, which alleviated his stress and lead to a productive life. He worked as a consultant to banks in California and helped fellow veterans in their efforts to overcome combat-related trauma. He collaborated on a biography written by Don Brown entitled The Last Fighter Pilot, which was published in 2017. He died on December 21, 2017 at the age of 93.
