Xanthe Gresham Knight

This is a beautiful book with the lavish stylized drawings with folkloric influences. The beginning of the story is quite different from the original -- the stepmother isn't evil, although she might have left notes for undoing the spell. Once she finds her brothers, the story is much closer to the original, until the very end. The story has some welcome feminist touches. I came across this in the library, on a dya when I was absolutely not going to check any more books out. Another failure of will. I rather wish it was hardback, because it's so thin that it gets a little lost on the shelf. I definitely think that I will get a copy for myself.… (más)
