This book is a picture book about monsters hiding in the dark in a child's bedroom and a young child opens the door and finds them. The child runs away scared and talks to a group of children who come up with a plan to get the monsters to go away. At the end of the book the book asks the reader discussion questions using some of the vocabulary found in the book. The book also represents diversity within the characters that they have illustrated. I would recommend this book to early readers in the elementary grades. As a non-native English-speaking family trying to raise their daughter as native, we try to read as much children books in English as possible.

This is an interesting book for 2/3 years old kids. We especially liked the drawings and its colours.
My daughter prefers books where the text is more cohesive or includes some rhymes. Having not turned out to be an immediate favourite, we will certainly re-read it, especially when the fear of the dark appears.

Where’s My Joey? by Wendy Monica Winter is a cute, cute story. Roxana Antochi beautifully illustrated this adorable book.

I fell in love with all the pictures. However, my favorite illustration is one of an ocean. The colors are so pretty and soothing. The creatures, for instance, the whale, clownfish, all the sea creatures, plus the vegetation, are gorgeous!

Children will learn about animals in Australia and some in Canada, too. There were a couple of animals I wasn’t familiar with that I discovered also! (I remembered a song about the Kookaburra, which is a bird, that I learned when I was younger, too.)

Where’s My Joey? is a fun book to savor and read over and over again.
