A solid, short introduction to the role of hieroglyphs in Egypt and their cultural significance. The writing was a little wooden at times, but luckily the story behind hieroglyphs is engaging enough to tell itself really.

This one had been languishing on my shelf for a while. I am glad I finally picked it up. The explanations of the historical significations of hieroglyphs were well thought out and detailed, but simple enough for a non-linguist to follow. Recommended to anyone interested in ancient Egypt.
