Nicely photographed. There wasn't much new information here, though, and I didn't walk away with the feeling that I'd learned anything. The pictures were pretty, though the decorating was uninspiring and stale to my eye. I want more punch, more incongruous juxtaposition, an odder collection of oddities and less of a Generic Stylish Interior Magazine look.
Great photos and great ideas. I actually read most of the writing which in these books is rare. I really didn't run across any information that I didn't already know. Most of the info on how to thrift successfully wasn't very in depth and was sort of geared towards big cities where you have high quality thrifting. Not that you can't find great things out here in the boonies - but it's really rare. But I liked the little snippets about the designers and their interiors. These designers are more my style.… (más)
What this book is: a ton of photos of famous designers' rooms featuring cheap finds. What this book isn't: a compendium of advice on what to look for in a cheap find. The chapter on how to evaluate furniture for quality was nice, but too short. To me, the whole point is how to get good deals - I don't really need lots of rooms trying to convince me you CAN get good deals at thrift stores and flea markets.
