Great story!
It comes as no surprise to say that I enjoyed the book. It's an easy read for a Saturday night. The cholera epidemic was a nice touch to the story as it allowed opportunity for Samuel to show his true feelings for Paulina. Baby Laura losing her parents added to the drama. It also reflects the culture of the time. You took in orphans and raised them as your own. No waiting period. No legal formalities. You just did the right thing quietly and moved on. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!… (más)

It's okay.
Not my favorite book by this author, but it's not too terrible. The sheriff and Mrs. Morris have a good chemistry between them, but I wish there had been more. Finn is in need of growing up on so many levels. The other characters weren't strongly developed. If they appear again in the series, I hope to see an improvement.

This book was okay. I felt sorry for the kids who were neglected by their alcoholic father. Louisa obviously adores children, so it made sense that she was as deeply involved as possible. Moving on in the series!

This book was a good light read. It's nothing heavy, just a typical man-and-woman-fall-in-love book. I look forward to reading more of Carre White's work!
