This one should really be less than one star. Plot? Not so you'd notice. Proper use of English? No real grasp of correct verb tenses. Dialog? Corny and stilted. This could have been stellar. The idea was extremely interesting. Grieving widow goes to meet her dead husband's family. Turns out they are shifters who were intended to share the woman but the husband for no reason reneged and kept her to himself. So now when she finally meets the brothers, the very next day mind you, she gets it on with one brother in the bath and then goes naked to eat breakfast with the other brother. Within 2 days she is doing a DP scene with both of them. What about the grieving? What about any sort of "holy shit I'm a slut for sleeping with my brothers-in-law within 12 hours of meeting them?" What kind of a person would think that was acceptable behavior upon meeting the in-laws? No one except a drug 'ho, that's who.

Totally ludicrous and the sex scenes were ordinary and way too much too often. Very little of the shifter world very little world building of any sort. No plot. I wanted to quit about half way in but made myself finish because I'd spent money on it. I really can't convey how stupid and poorly written it was. I suppose your mileage may vary.

What we think we want is not always what's really good for us, but if we're lucky, Fate shows us the way and "forces" us to accept that what we need to be happy may be a total surprise. Thomas struggles more than most when an unforeseen turn of events changes his life, but ultimately, he has to accept the reality of having a mate – never mind what gender they are. It's not as if a shifter can easily reject their mate in the first place, but Thomas puts up one hell of a fight!

Thomas may think he's prepared for anything, but when he discovers his mate is a man, he loses it. And I mean, he totally forgets any sort of logic and regresses to the stage of a three-year-old who tosses his unwanted toys away in anger. As if that could force his parents to give him the ones he asked for. I was really angry at him for that, because in this case the object of his rejection is a living, breathing wolf shifter who is hurt significantly by Thomas's idiotic attempts at denial. When Thomas finally gets it he feels deep remorse – as he should!

Braxton is a wolf shifter who has never admitted that he is gay. He fears losing his family and friends over this, but does he hesitate to admit Thomas is his mate? No! Braxton shows more courage than Thomas by far, and fights valiantly to get Thomas to change his mind. All he wants is to be accepted, and he'll do anything to get there. He has a hard time taking the active role, since he is a natural sub, but he doesn’t have a choice and mans up. I admired him for that and rooted for him all the way.

If you like shifter stories about mates who initially reject their intended partners, if you enjoy reading about a submissive man doing his best to fight for the right to be with his more dominant partner with every trick they can think of, and if you're looking for a fun, hot read, then you will probably like this novella.

I enjoyed this book. It is a short quick read that is filled with hot alpha males and steamy sex that will have you wet in no time. This is the second book in the series and a nice addition to the overall story arc. I am still looking forward Alyssa and Jessica's books and I hope that they come out soon.
