Harold Tucker Webster (1885–1952)

Well-selected and entertaining book, comprising a number of gems from the long-serving cartoonist for the New York World and New York Herald-Tribune, not excepting his immortal Caspar Milquetoast. One can appreciate his lovely draughtsmanship, and dry sense of humour. Cartoon lovers should definitely have this.

Good, especially the Milquetoast cartoons and the "Thrill that Comes Once in a Lifetime" ones. Some were too dated for me to fully appreciate, and there were a lot of bridge (as in cards—not spans) ones that were meaningless to me. I enjoyed it, but don't feel the need to keep it in my collection.

A collection of the fine and versatile cartoonist, H. T. Webster. Best known for his "The Timid Soul" series, with the iconically-named Caspar Milquetoast, this collection includes that and Webster's other fine "category" panels: The Thrill That Comes Once In A Lifetime, Life's Darkest Moment, Dogs, Bridge, How To Torture Your Husband, How To Torture Your Wife, The Unseen Audience, Fishing, and early political cartoons. I like these cartoons a lot for their timeless and gentle humor.
