The Three-Legged Stool is a beautifully written novel about a young boy, Freddy, which spans across several decades and countries. Freddy, a German, moved to Detroit with his parents as a baby seeking a better life in America. As a youngster, WWI erupts and Freddy's family no longer feel Detroit is safe. They return to Germany. In Detroit, Germans were hated. In Germany, more sinister events were occurring as Hitler was coming to power. The story continues past WWII with a surprising twist. This novel is extremely well-written, powerful and through provoking. Character development is very good. Highly recommend!
