This collection of short stories and magazine articles is a must for anyone who enjoys travel writing. Of course, as in any collection you will find favourites here and ones that don't quite hit the spot. Each story has been published in a UK magazine between 2000 and 2021. You might find the book is an inspiration to travel somewhere. For me it was an inspiration to seek out more excellent travel writing. When it is good travel writing is never about just inspiration for a trip it is about crafting words that capture a moment in time and a place. There are plenty of stand out pieces here. Antonia Quirk's elemental island, Pantelleria, is warm and intense. Tharik Hussain shares his fascinating Hajj Diaries.
