Not much to say. It is charming, historically impossible and/or absurd, and there is not a lot of plot to bog down the romance. This novella is a gummy bear of a book, it has zero nutritional value, contains nothing that occurs in nature, and though it is a hair too sweet it is quite pleasing as long as you don't consume too much. On to the next (and I think last) of the Halifax novellas.

A charming Regency romance novella. Utterly anachronistic, but charming nonetheless. I generally don't like romance novellas much because the character development is insufficient for me to get invested in the love story, but I did not have that problem here. The story is low angst, sexy but not particularly graphic (but a tiny bit graphic), and just loads of fun. Margo's twin sister has run off with an older man, an aristocrat, and Margo sets out to "save" her before she elopes. Henry has been secretly in love with Margo and so runs off with her to keep her safe. I liked Margo and Henry a lot! I listened to this, and the audio was very good. I will continue with the series for sure.… (más)

The final novella in this series is remarkably consistent with the other two, Once again charming and sexy, utterly historically absurd (really it is a historical romance with zero actual history.) The one place where this falls down a little for me is that there is simply no foundation for these two falling in love. It is 100% love at first sight, which is not usually satisfying for me, but I guess I fell a little in love with Winnie too so I could understand Spencer's reaction.

I'm usually a contemporary romance kind of gal, but every so often I like to read a fun historical romance . This light Regency romance fit the bill, and the sense of humor from the main characters made this an enjoyable read. The charming Peter Kent is an American and the new Duke of Stanhope. After his father's death, he is struggling to gain custody of his two much younger and illegitimate half-siblings. Our heroine, the independent and intelligent Lady Selina Ravenscroft, secretly runs a circulating library for women, specializing in scandalous books that educate and sexually empower women. Some predictable moments of angst with their relationship progression but a fun read nonetheless. Also, I would absolutely read an entire book about Freddie and Lu! New-to-me author, but I will definitely be reading her other books. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.… (más)
