En dan, als ik weg ben por Guido Van Heulendonk
A treefold story about people wandering around in their lives, in their loves, in their memories and futures. Reflections on what was good, what could have been or should have been and still could be. At first complicated, then it gets better with some nice sentences that help you reflect yourself but the end of the novel is strange, all comes together and ends abrupt. Weird.
Ik begrijp echt niet hoe dit boek in 1995 de Gouden Uil-literatuurprijs in de wacht kon slepen. Het verhaal – over een Gentenaar in een vroegtijdige midlifecrisis – houdt de aandacht echt niet gaande, en – op enkele zeldzame passages na – staat het bol van de flauwe spitsvondigheden die je eerder van een puber zou verwachten dan een volwassen schrijver. Het ontbreekt Van Heulendonk zeker niet aan de nodige eruditie (die hij ruim etaleert), maar met een betere beheersing had hij dit verhaal wellicht beter tot zijn recht doen komen.… (más)
