Lizbeth Upitis

I bought this book whilst taking part in a Schoolhouse Press Latvian Mitten KAL led by the author of the book, Lizbeth Upitis. I enjoyed knitting the mittens, using graph 19, District of Vidzeme mittens. The book has many beautiful colour plates of mittens from different districts of Latvia, plus the charts to work from. I would rate difficulty of knitting these beautiful designs as Medium, but getting easier with every new pair you knit, and you will want to knit more. Lizbeth also shares some of the social history of the mittens that is associated with young Latvian girls dowry's. Definitely a book worth owning for any dedicated knitter.
