This book is a classic tale of an old-school nursery rhyme that children just love. In this book, we get to see other places the spider goes to while adventuring through a house.

Join our rambunctious teapot as he gets all steamed up just waiting to share his imaginative adventures with you. Grab your coat as you sail down the river on a boat to China, run off to Mexico to fight a bull, race with the hounds on a fox hunt, and hide deep in the jungle where no one will find you.

A book to share with friends and family--after all, isn't that what "Tea-Time" is all about?

This humorous, rhyming book invites readers to count eerie party guests (1 to 10) as they arrive at the haunted house of the ghost. When the partygoers are frightened by a group of young trick-or-treaters, readers count backwards as the guests depart. A surprise ending offers a delightfully spooky twist.

In the spirit of the lyrics to Jingle Bells, this is a cute illustrated holiday book written in verse. It also introduces readers to Christmas customs in other cultures, although the information is very simplistic.

A teapot takes children on a journey to China, Mexico, and space. Then she brews tea for the family to enjoy. This book shows children that the world is different in some parts but we always have something in common with each other and the way we live.

This is a wonderful book that sets the old familiar children’s song into a delightful story using the excellent illustrations by Iza Trapani to explain the story. My own garden is located next to woodlands, so each page is almost biographical! I love reading this book as much as the kids do.

With verses written to the tune of the classic song Jingle Bells, the reader follows two children as they travel the world in a sleigh through a growing snowstorm. Along the way they observe holiday traditions in many countries including Mexico, Sweden, Kenya, and more. The children return home with a sleighful of new friends just in time to celebrate.

The Bottom Line: This sweet holiday tale is filled with colorful, festive watercolors. The story puts a spotlight on celebrating diversity, making it perfect for school or library story times. Trapani has also thoughtfully included a page describing Christmas traditions in the featured countries and a page with the music and words to Jingle Bells.

"Join our irresistible young heroine as she wishes upon a mischievous, twinkling star. Granting her wish, the little star takes her on a dazzling journey through the swirling, iridescent lights of the night sky." A familiar childhood song expanded to many verses, forming a complete story about the twinkling star and her young friend.

Summary:
The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a wonderful expansion to the beloved nursery rhyme. The spider finds new adventures with a mouse, a cat and some squirrels and birds. Finally the spider spins a silky web to rest in with the warm sun.

Personal Reflection:
I love how this book takes a beloved childhood song and expanse on it. This book is a must add for all home libraries. The illustrations are amazing and fun filled.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Making spiders from food could be used for snack. The body of the spider is an oreo cookie and the legs are pretzel sticks.
2. Give children a piece of construction paper and have them draw a spider web. Have them use temper paint to place a hand print in the middle of the web and decorate the hand as the spider.

Summary of Book: The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a classic children’s tale and song about the day in the life of a spider. The reader follows along as the spider gets knocked down a lot after climbing up things. No matter how many times the spider gets knocked down though, it continues to try until finally she succeeds and makes a web inside a tree to rest in.

Personal Reaction to the Book: First and foremost, it does show children that no matter how many times in life you get knocked down while trying, to never give up; that eventually you will find success at anything you do with practice and effort. Many individuals have an inherent fear of spiders because of stereotyping and I think this spider provides a limelight in that not all spiders are deadly and harmful to people.

Extension Ideas:
1.During a science lesson, discover different types of spiders and learn about which are actually harmful if bitten by and which aren’t.
2.Have students write about a reflection piece in which they discuss a time when they’ve tried and failed over and over again only to succeed.
