Poetry: A New Collection of Contemporary Poems by Lucy Townsend is a collection of thirty poems inspired by everyday life. In this short collection there are a few very good poems, like “Empathy”, quoted above, “Verbally Mute”, and “Distance”. Some poems start off well and get lost along the way. “Fading” is a poem about cut flowers dying in their elegant glass cut coffins. The poem works very until the last line. Other poems either skirt or dive into the realm of cutesy. The collection is a mix with some good poems, a few I really enjoyed. Perhaps, I am not the target reader for this collection. I expect poetry to occupy the highest tier in literature. This collection plays more to the more casual reader who can feel happy about reading poetry.… (más)
