Although I haven't finished it yet, based on what I've read so far, it's a fascinating account of spiritualism and mysticism. I'd seen some of the images in other publications but the wealth of them here is impressive and really complements the text.
It's well written and should easily appeal to both casual readers and those who already have an interest in the subject.

A really good companion to the Welcome collections exhibition which dealt with illusion, spiritualism and mystics and mediums. Fascinating and horrifying in equal measure, this looks in particular at the spiritualist phenomena and the fakes and frauds that were involved in this. Very good and interesting for the lay reader as well as students of the early twentieth century and psychology students as well.
