Whatever your experience is with grief and/or faith, [The Night Lake] will manage to surprise you. That it's not easy reading is an understatement. Liz finds her month old son is in an ambulance racing to the hospital and barely clinging to life with a previously undiagnosed medical condition. A month earlier her mother had died. She finds that even the strength of her husband and her daughter are not enough nd as a priest she feels aghast that for the first time in her life she questions the existence of a God of any kind.
