Seth has a thankless job at the Last Chance Hotel as a dishwasher, housekeeper and whatever thankless job his not so nice boss can come up with. He makes the best of his situation, because he loves the forest that surrounds the hotel. That is until he is accused of a murder he did not commit and he is drawn into the mysterious and scary world of magic.
This book is recommended for readers in grades 3-6 who love fantasy and magic. It has a Harry Potter like tone to it. The writing is fun and whimsical. The reader will enjoy both the humor and the mystery as they try to solve the murder. The characters are well developed. The plot is full of twists and turns and the setting also becomes an important character in the story.

A super locked room fantasy whodunnit for 8-12yrs, which I, as a 50-something adult, really enjoyed too. My full review here: http://annabookbel.net/last-chance-hotel-nicki-thornton½
