I'm usually not much for dense political theory, which made getting into Black Bloc, White Riot rather difficult. However, once I did I was rewarded with some very valuable insights about the early (and late?) anti-globalization movement which began in earnest in Seattle. The basic point - that the black bloc tactic created space for younger, middle-class white kids to become actual political beings - is argued effectively at times, but becomes buried under paragraph after paragraph of theoretical discussion. This book has a lot of very intriguing arguments to add to the discussion about violence and rioting as valid - the author would say necessary - political acts. So I'd recommend this book to people who are interested in the theoretical basis for political violence, but approach with caution.… (más)
