167. The Four Fears, by Elbert D. Thomas (read 17 Dec 1944) This book is by a very liberal Senator from Utah. (Yes, there used to be great liberal senators from Utah!) I began reading it because of an argument I had with a teacher, Sister Abilia, O.S.F. On Dec 15, 1944, I said: "Reading The Four Fears. Boy, I'm glad I got that book. The chapter "Fear of Russia" is a classic. I really ought to give it to Sister Abilia. She is an old reactionary, a typical 'Watch out for Russia' er." On Dec 17 I said: "Finished The Four Fears. OK, but the only real good chapter is the one on fear of Russia. That one makes the book worthwhile."… (más)
