Chris Tebbetts was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He received a degree in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University. After graduation, he moved to New York City where he worked through the various technical aspects of producing plays. He eventually started directing. After eight years, he decided mostrar más to move to Burlington, Vermont and focus on writing. He took writing classes and attended numerous writing conferences and workshops. This book is about Rafe Khatchadorian a middle school student who decided that he wanted to break every school code of content rules in his school with his best friend Leo. This book addresses the challenges of middle school for students, like fitting in dealing with authority figures, and finding their own identity. Throughout this book, the reader can relate to the feeling of wanting to be seen and how much potential each student has.

Facing the harsh realities at home and balancing the new setting of middle school Rafe experiences a lot of emotional development. With the unique game created with his imaginary friend, Leo the question is whether following the rules at school is a bad thing.
