When I started listening to St. Vincent, I thought she would be a more subtle and profound version of Regina Spector. In this album, she sounds like a more subtle and profound version of Sia and a more accessible – and therefore smarter – version of Bjork.

Seriously, a band with horns and tubas and French horns, whose YouTube videos had them performing dance routines that my home town band could do better. What was I thinking? Well, that "Lazarus" was a great song and that there might be other great songs on it. There were a few. There may be more, but I have developed such an Oliver Hardy-ish dislike for the horns that I am going to put any prolonged re-hearing off.
