Olivia has floated along in her life, carrying the weight of her past like a burden. She fancies herself in love with George, who is gay but does love Olivia and is even attracted to her. Along the way Olivia makes lots of mistakes but keeps trying (which I loved about her). Her love life is a mess but eventually she finds her match, is a good friend along the way, and even finds some balance with her father.

This story started out very sad and went on so long but I was drawn to keep reading. The action between main characters finally picked up and I liked their long time friendship but the heroine made too many bad choices. Dan's wife and Stacy's best friend dies and they try to console each other.
Really enjoyed this indie novel. Olivia is certainly an unconventional heroine-- she's 25, was born in prison, lives in a seedy trailer park on the wrong side of town, drinks too much, smokes too much, swears too much, has sex a lot, and is stuck in a dead-end job-- but you gotta love her. The writing is lovely, and the story is funny, sad, quirky and hard to put down.
Olivia was from the South side of the tracks and dreamed to be on the North side. But life gave her lemons and she had to deal with it, like it or not. Donna Sturgeon has portrayed a wonderful character full of life, energy and spunk. I fell in love with her and all her quirks, her demons and her handsome bevy of men. This was a wonderful novel full of love, heartache and downright sillyness. I cried, I laughed and I cursed right along with Olivia. I will definately be looking for more from Ms. Sturgeon.… (más)
