This book would be great for primary or intermediate readers
This book is about Evelyn Glennie and her story of losing her hearing while continuing her music career.
This would be a good read aloud book to create a diverse classroom that celebrates many different students and their disabilities

I love the way that this biography captures that she thrived as a musician not in spite of her disability, but because of it.

1. I would say this book could be used as almost any age to teach diversity and to inspire students. It would teach students at different levels different things.
2.This books goes through a true story of a girl who grew up learning piano then she goes to the doctor and the doctor tells her she won't be able to play music
anymore and the dad says "No, my daughter can do whatever she wants". She struggles and struggles but eventually becomes a really great percussionist and
musician.
3.This book explains diversity in an empowering way and is a very good read to explain that to students. There doesn't seem to be too many misconceptions that can happen with this book. An overall great book for a classroom library.

Plot Summary: A non-fiction, picture book biography about a girl who became deaf when she was 10 because the nerves in her ears were degenerating. The doctor claimed she'd never be able to play music again, but she loved music and found a way to use the vibrations of percussion to play. Often barefoot.
