This collection contains 28 extracts from works describing 'Victorian' disciplinary activities. This is one of a short series of books collecting representative samples from the Victorian/Edwardian erotic literature, in this case concentrating on that era’s penchant for erotic chastisement. It will be of interest to those requiring a sampler, rather than making their own selection from the confusing (and repetitive) array of more original publications. It achieves this aim well, with evenly balanced offerings of M/F, F/F and F/M scenarios, predominantly consensual in character and in most cases enthusiastically so. If it has a fault it is in its lack of source information for its extracts, which are presented (not altogether helpfully) as chapters bearing the names of principal participants. It is thus by no means clear when sources change in the sequence of stories presented. Nevertheless, for the purposes of random browsing for which this genre is particularly valuable, the volume, extending to almost 600 pages, will be found valuable.… (más)
