As part of our annual Maine 4th of July weekend camping trip, we took a day to explore nearby Dexter, Maine. I visited the local Historical Museum, and as always, was very impressed with the amount of information tucked away on this small town in Maine. They had this 'Images of America' book on Dexter for sale with a picture of an early Locomobile Steamer on the cover, and i could not resist. I do love these 'Images of America' series books. Unbelievable photographs capturing the history and tone of a place unlike any other way. Lots of automotive lore in this one, but even so, i loved learning about this once industrial powerhouse of a town with a river to power all kinds of industry, the most famous being Dexter Shoe.
