The author sets forward an interesting and difficult task to herself. The history of flight in intertwined with the cultural expectations of the age, so to speak, and some permeate through the centuries. To fly just to arrive faster isn't enough to explain why so many people dedicated themselves to such a goal. After reading it, there's a feeling of achievement and disappointment. The facts and pointers are there but it seems there is something missing to round everything up. Maybe I'm to square to see it but it's a feeling that doesn't abandon me. But maybe it is part of the problem, there is no way to draw straight lines of causality between everything, the brew is to illusive for that. The author manages, in my opinion, to prove the point but a wish of something more still lingers after the last page.… (más)
