Written in the context of the times when Henry was still alive. Many of the Old Man's foibles glossed over or omitted.

Reading the author's preface was an introduction to a book i knew i would love reading. I loved the style and flow of words, like a river flowing through a forest. the author shows impeccable research narrating the history of Thomas "Al" Edison by going back 4 generations of early Canadian and America pioneers of late 1700's and early 1800's.
The book is peppered by snippets of American history as current affairs, which create a background to an era that "Al" Edison lived; an Age of Progress and Constant change.
The chapters are written to be easily read.
It must be understood that in 1878, the notion of Electricity was like the "Unknown god" was to the Romans in Paul the Apostle's day.
Edison was referred to as a "Wizard" and he even challenged the "so called scientists" of his day; he was determined to prove them wrong. Edison ha studied the secrets of physical science by experimentation, so he knew, and the problems he uncovered, were never even dreamed of in the realm of theory. The Electric light was then considered against the Laws of nature.
I wish to compliment the author for the manner in which the book is written, of a man who was challenged by the "impossible" from physicals and made it work. Inventions and understanding, that changed thinking and history.
