This book took me quite a while to get through, mainly because I was using this as a hobby book. It takes quite a bit of time to learn things out of these types of books, and as a student (and worker) it was hard to find time to do these wonderful, time consuming activities! So normal reader, it does not take very long to read this book, my situation just made me take quite a bit of time to get through it.

Now to the good part!

Sewing brilliant bags!!

The book starts out with some sewing essentials, written informatively and aimed at a more adult audience. It then rushes into some handy techniques. Some stitches are discussed briefly, and then designing your own bags is also discussed.

Then comes the bag designs! There are 12, and they are beautiful but clearly take a lot of work. Your novice sewer would most likely not be able to make this right away without a little help. The steps are described wonderfully with pictures, but it was hard to make the purses as a novice. These steps definitely would get someone who has experience to the endpoint of a nice looking bag though!!

This book is clearly made for someone who is not a novice sewer (like myself). While the steps were very helpful and informative, I was more than lost trying to complete these projects. I would suggest taking a class or be knowledgeable in sewing before picking up this book (unless you are adventurous or learn well from pictures and instructions!).

Overall, this is an incredibly informative book designed for someone with experience in sewing! I learned a lot!!!

Four out of five stars!

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Appeals to my pack-rat/anti-waste mindset! The table of contents is one of my favorite kinds, with a tiny photo of each project. I may try the child's apron, pocket apron, place mats, pan holders, notice board, and maybe the (purely decorative) "string of hearts."

Clever ideas of what to make using left-over fabrics. Full of ideas and useful projects, I particularly liked the sewing machine cover.
